What is NAVIGATE?

NAVIGATE is a comprehensive evidence-based treatment program created for patients who have had a first episode of psychosis. Treatment is provided by a team of mental health professionals who focus on helping patients work toward personal goals and get their life back on track. More broadly, NAVIGATE helps patients navigate the road to recovery from an episode of psychosis, including getting back to functioning well at home, school, work, and in the social world.

NAVIGATE includes four different interventions, Individualized Medication Treatment, a Family Education Program, Individualized Resiliency Training, and Supported Employment and Education. The NAVIGATE program brings together these different interventions to promote optimal recovery outcomes. NAVIGATE has been developed to provide comprehensive evidence-based treatment for individuals in their first episode of psychosis. As such, NAVIGATE provides a manualized, structured care framework that provides a highly collaborative and integrated model of care. By following this intervention framework, the NAVIGATE manuals provide a curriculum for patients and family members, as well as guidelines for clinicians. The NAVIGATE manuals are created intentionally with respect to the order in which the modules occur to help patients work towards their personal goals and foster recovery.
